2010 July Knit-on-Pearl :
Jackson Hole, Wyoming!
OMG! Wyoming is so breathtakingly
beautiful and to top it off was the warm hospitality of the ladies
of the Knit-on-Pearl shop in Jackson Hole. Rachel Stam,
the owner and shopkeeper extraordinaire (right) is a multi-talented
(CPA by day, mom by night and eternal shopkeeper) - Danielle (left)
is the shop manager and chief procurer of all things that make
guests comfortable. Many thanks. Signed some books, chatted with
locals & visitors to this
heaven-on-earth...and picked up some yummy yarn to boot! You must visit BUT do note they are moving (and expanding!) to a new location this summer! ![]() |

2009 Fall new hat designs! 40 more hat designs...just in time for the holidays!
This second volume of hat designs
seemed inevitable after working and experimenting with shapes for
Hip Knit Hats...although there are a number of quick & easy
styles amongst the 40 offered, there's also more than enough to
challenge the hat enthusiast. Most importantly, all are
eminently wearable spanning the classics to more contemporary edgier
looks. My daughter Lydia was invited to model some of the shoots as well.
Can be had on Amazon, Barnes & Noble or best yet - your local yarn
shop.

2009 Summer
A package arrived
this past summer and out popped the
the little lady in the photo on the left - it's 'me' knitting! My sister Lynne sent 'me' to me. At first I thought it was something she picked up in a local shop, so I was tunned to learn that she whipped 'me' up herself. I love the leopard print dress, the jet beads, the black turtleneck & leggings, the matching knitting bag - and the berry-colored knitting! I'm really thin too (whew! thank you!). I love 'me'! Lynne's a talented quilt maker and now, doll maker too. Thank you ! |

2009 Summer zoom-zoom-zoom It's hard to believe that no one nabbed KNIT for a car plate in CT...and I just couldn't resist. Next in line was a kerchief design for zipping about - called The Cooper or the Cooper-Kerchief - a pattern which is listed on both etsy and ravelry! knit-knit-knit

2009 Spring
it's my
party...
yup,
I just had a birthday the best part of
which is getting cards and this year I couldn't help but smile when I received this charmer from my niece Elizabeth - a really cute cartoon of the oft true sentiment that, "sometimes the yarn thinks it can win" |

2008 Thanksgving
loop London
This little sliver of a
shop had all
sorts of unusual things to look at - knitted creatures, upholstered chairs, luxuriously crocheted scarves, etc - and a rich and well edited assortment of natural fibers of all sorts but most unique to the shop is the really well done hand knitted & handcrafted items for sale. I wanted lots but was satisfied to settle for a few bits! Do make a point to stopover when next in London or visit - www.loop.gb.com. |

2008
Spring Sojourn to Sicily March Spring break was spent on this rocky isle off the southern coast of Italy. It's layered in thousands of years of historical ruins. Mt. Etna was rumbling, mumbling to itself the day we visited - something our guide said wasn't too common. The lava on the surrounding hills is dated by the lichen growth; light grey flows are the oldest and the black flows are the most recent. A multitude of gray hues cascades down the mountainside. The food was delicious; we especially liked the vegetables and the ways in which they were cooked. Other favorites: lots a delicious olive oil, also sage leaves and onion slices, lightly batter-dipped & fried |

![]() mosaics at the Roman Villa de Casale a bit inland on the south coast revealed what could possibly be ancient socks. The photo above shows what could be red leather sandal straps tied to a blue leather heel - but the light blue/grey underneath sure looks like a pair of hand knitted socks to me! |

2007 Winter An epiphany or sorts just hit us here at the Pond - even though our very distinguished and much loved ginger cat has been with us for over 5 years now, we just realized that his name Tinker or Tink for short, spells REKNIT or KNIT backwards...moreover, PondEdge which is located in a wee village in the Connecticut countryside sits on Tinker Hill Road...ooow-eee-ooow...

Wartime knitting
is a story I researched for years...in Vogue Knitting's upcoming Ultimate Sock Book, there's a brief excerpt from a work I hope to someday have published in its entirety - as well as photos of a half dozen or so items, the very tip of my personal collection... |
